Why you should visit a hot springs resort on your next holiday

13/08/2018

Human beings have been bathing in natural hot springs for thousands of years. In fact, it’s the original day spa. There is a tonne of evidence to suggest that as far back as 5,000 years ago, people were using natural hot springs to treat a range of ailments and disease. With it’s natural healing qualities, humans flocked to these places for genuine relaxation and relief from the everyday stresses. The Native Americans looked at the hot springs as a sacred place for healing and the Middle Eastern countries loved their natural bathing houses. Let’s explore some reasons why you should make a hot springs resort your next holiday destination.

Soaking in hot natural waters is a different type of getaway

Visiting a hot springs facility is the equivalent of a mini health and wellness retreat. Whether it’s for a day, a weekend or even a longer break, going to the hot springs is an ideal way to draw out some of those toxins from your body, giving you an immediate feeling of rest and relaxation. You also get access to a range of hot water pools with varying water temperatures ranging anywhere from 34 degrees – 42 degrees.  Some facilities come fully equipped with bathrobes, lockers, towels and café/restaurant facilities for your extra convenience. Not to mention being amongst nature, the trees and all the natural elements that Mother Nature provides, it really does take your relaxation experience to the next level.

A retreat for peace & healing

Thermal areas are some of the most peaceful and relaxing places on earth. They are deemed sacred in many ways and should be treated accordingly. If you have never had the chance to visit one, you must put it on your bucket list fast. According to research done by the Peninsula Hot Springs in Rye, Victoria, their analysis revealed that “Relaxation, Peace & Tranquility, Indulgence & Escape were the most important motivating factors for bathing. Most respondents also reported general health benefits and better sleep from bathing in natural hot springs.” No matter which way you look at it, soaking in natural thermal waters is a great way to unwind and restore your inner peace.

Detoxification

Thermal pools have been used as a natural form of therapy and rehabilitation for centuries. The high mineral content in hot springs makes it the perfect multi-vitamin for our skin.  These natural waters contain everything from silica, calcium, magnesium and sulphur. The combination of these minerals and the heat in hot springs helps to detoxify the body by soothing muscle aches, healing various skin conditions and stimulating blood circulation. It’s important to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated during your bathing sessions as too much detoxification can make you feel woozy very fast.

The Gwydir Thermal Pools Resort in Moree N.S.W is the perfect pit stop for your next mini break. Our newly built motel and hot springs is renowned for it’s natural Artesian thermal water, drawn directly from the Great Artesian Basin at a depth of approximately 720 metres (2400 feet).
